Natural steadiness and immense retrieving drive, two strong characteristics that were evident from an early age and have shined throughout Rye’s development of wild bird hunting and a strong testing career. Rye has all the go in the field with impressive athleticism, but has a sweet and loving personality in the home that soaks up human interaction. She loves to train and work, doing it with a smile on her face that makes working with her a pure joy . Like her namesake , she is perfect blend of spicy and relaxing, always already for that next dose of life.
As the owner of her mom, Lily, who is an AKC Master Hunter Advanced (MHA) and NAVHDA Versatile Champion (VC), the goal was to retain all the strong characteristics of her mom including strong bird sense, cooperation, retrieving, and a sweet and lovable personality that shines in the household, but add some additional water desire and confidence like her dad. Rye’s dad Archer, a Shooter son, has excelled in testing venues as evident by the AKC MH and NAVHDA UT-1 titles he has achieved, but he has also proved himself hunting many species of wild birds/waterfowl across the upper Midwest. He is a great representation of an exceptional hunting dog that thrives in a family environment. The goal was to blend the best of her parents….and we are proud to say that goal was accomplished.
In 2025, Rye was 1 score away from becoming a NAVHDA Versatile Champion (VC) by the young age of 3.5 years old. This is a testament to her strong ability to learn and early maturing nature. We anticipate requalifying her in late summer of 2026 and compete in the 2027 NAVHDA Invitational. Whether it is her expressive personality or silly antics, Rye has brought an immense amount of joy to our household that extends beyond the field. The hope is that her puppies do the same for yours.
